<lb /><hi rend="bold">Welcome to the second version of the electronic edition of the Byzantine Text of John.</hi><lb/>
<lb />The original edition, published in 2007 at <ptr target="http://www.iohannes.com/byzantine/">http://www.iohannes.com/byzantine/</ptr> used the Anastasia software (now obsolete). This second edition, created in 2014, presents the files as raw XML with an XSL transformation. This lightweight approach should be more durable and enables easier access to the complete transcription files for each witness. However, as not every manuscript has page breaks encoded, certain witnesses are arranged by verse. The transcriptions of the minuscules, commentaries and Church Fathers were converted afresh for this new edition from the original plain text (2007). The transcriptions of the majuscules and lectionaries were shared with the IGNTP Editio Critica Maior of John; the latest XML version of the lectionaries (2014) was incorporated in the present edition.
